The role in a parody
Love plays Rosalyn in American Hustle XXX, directed by Will Ryder. The production is a parody of the 2013 film American Hustle, in which Jennifer Lawrence played the corresponding character.
The role was announced in 2014. Love’s interview discusses it as a character performance within a scripted production.
Preparing the voice
She had already seen the original film before accepting the project. In her account of preparation, she said she returned to it repeatedly before filming.
Love singled out a New Jersey accent as part of playing Rosalyn. Her description of the work focuses on the character’s manner and the pleasure of acting.
The costume she kept
The production used vintage clothing gathered by producer Scott David. Love recalled trying on the outfits and asking to buy the clothes she wore.
She was allowed to purchase one: an avocado-green, one-piece jumpsuit. She described keeping it as a reminder of the shoot, a concrete detail from her account of the period wardrobe.
